'Nanu' meaning grandfather is an animated film I designed characters, backgrounds and the frames for. It revolves around Tia a teenage girl narrating her story about the day her Nanu was told he was going to die by his astrologer.
Background
In india, Jyotisha, is the traditional Hindu system of astrology. It is one of the six auxiliary disciplines in Hinduism, that is connected with the study of the Vedas. Needless to say it is taken pretty seriously by some people.
Nanu revolves around how a man is told the precise date he is going to die when he's young and his family has to come to terms with it and prepare themselves for the day of his passing especially his grand daughter for whom 'death' is an incomprehensible concept.
Characters
There are primarily two characters that are the protagonists of the film - Tia and Nanu. There are some supporting characters that are the other members of the family.
Tia
Tia is a teenager who is the narrator of this story. She is loving grand daughter that loves her Nanu because he pampers her and can do anything for her. The thought of losing him is unbearable for her.
Nanu
Nanu is the loving Grandfather who's love language is cooking. He loves taking his grand kids out and spoil them with toys, food, etc. He, like other members of his family, is also a believer of Astrology and believes his death will happen the exact date his astrologer had predicted.
